Philippines Exotic Food - Can you take to eat these?

How many of you tried to eat food that are not so familiar with you? We consider it as exotic foods. Exotic in the sense that it suppose not to be on the table but people tried to make it as their meals. Below are the example of the exotic foods in Philippines that you might encounter if you will travel there. For some it is gross, no one can ever take to eat but its a challenge for everybody if you to experience their culture. Sometimes, exotic foods define the culture of every places.

List of Exotic foods in Philippines.

  1. Balut - It is the number one exotic foods in Philippines where you can find every corner of the road during night time. For Php. 16 you can taste the unexpected flavor of what they so called boiled fertilized duck egg with 10 t0 18 days old. Eating Balut have the benefits to our body, however eating it is somehow need a proper way from peeling the shell to zipping what is inside of it. You have to swallow what is inside of that egg, just dont mind the embryo look like inside.

  2. Tamilok - What you can see in my featured image, that is the Tamilok. It looks like a slimy worm living inside the rotten wood most especially the bakawan or mangroves. This kind of exotic food needs not to cook. With few drops of vinegar and salt your good to go to eat it.

3 Ginataang Kuhol – Philippines are known to have largest area where people taking care of their farms and producing tons of rice and corn. Every farm needs to have a water to supply the needs of every plants. Beneath the mud and water you can find the shell kind creature and they called it Kuhol. Not all Filipino loves to eat it, but there are some especially farmers eat it and used it as their delicacy. They cooked it with coconut milk and it taste not so different with usual shell that we can find in the ocean.
