The wise and the fool: Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you yourself will be just like him

The book of Proverbs gives us a series of recommendations to achieve spiritual perfection and reach the correct path in life, the path of righteousness, but everything starts from a principle, beatitude is in the way of the wise, and curse is in the way of fools: "Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm" Proverbs 13:20.
The wise man is the sensible man par excellence, the wise man is precise and exact in everything he does or says, but the wise man has his counterpart, the foolish man: "I saw that wisdom is better than folly, just as light is better than darkness" Ecclesiastes 2:13.
It corresponds to the wise to lead explains the book of Proverbs, and to the fool to obey the words of the wise, no one is corrupted in the hands of a wise man:
"Like snow in summer or rain in harvest,
honor is not fitting for a fool.
Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow,
an undeserved curse does not come to rest.
A whip for the horse, a bridle for the donkey,
and a rod for the backs of fools!" Proverbs 26:1-3.
Life is complex, and one advice can be useful in one situation, but not in another, wisdom is also the particular application of common sense in each situation that is presented to us, that's why the Bible tells us two sentences that seem contradictory, but that they can be valid in different situations, when we deal with people who have lost their minds:
"Do not answer a fool according to his folly,
or you yourself will be just like him.
Answer a fool according to his folly,
or he will be wise in his own eyes." Proverbs 26:4-5.
The fool presents us the path of error as if it were something logical or with common sense, if the wise man has authority over the fool, the wise man must correct, but if this is not the case, the wise man must remain silent, this is what he is telling us book of Proverbs. Only when the words of the sage are carefully listened and the words of the fool cast aside, is when men and society achieve true happiness and beatitude.
