Daily spiritual reflection: Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools. Romans 1:22

Looking for the wisdom that comes from the world, many found the opposite, explains the apostle Paul: "For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools.", Romans 1:21-22.
The true spiritual wisdom, the one that comes from that inspiration from above, is always accompanied by the fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion, equanimity, stability): "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom", Proverbs 1:7.
The bible teaches us that we must avoid that vanity and pride ("Vanity of vanities, says the preacher", Ecclesiastes 1:2) that comes from the acquisition of knowledge and science, man must never seek to occupy the place of God: "There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death", Proverbs 16:25; "Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight", Isaiah 5:21; "For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight. As it is written: ´He catches the wise in their craftiness´", 1 Corinthians 3:19.

The story of Job teaches us that wisdom by itself is not a guarantee of anything, everything is subject to the providence of God (Wisdom 14:3), and the purifying virtue of humility is the way to eternal life and the Kingdom of God. Being good doesn't mean that bad things won't happen to you. Why does God allow evil? Sometimes evil is necessary to get a good out of it. Many times adverse situations are there to test our patience, that virtue that allows us to cope with evil without losing reason.
And as the Bible explains "everything has his own time": "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build", Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.
