Daily Post #47 in a 50 Part Series Leading Up to April 1, 2017

Lots of imaginary progress to report to my excited, massive imaginary audience!

If we were titling this to play the normal Steemit game, this post would be something like, "Our New Appreciation of Veterans".

Whoa! Aren't you guys voluntaryists? Why would you glorify unthinking mercenaries?

Well, we said "appreciation" not undying devotion. There are a couple reasons. In building the new tribe-replacing entities we foresee being necessary to healing our world, it helps to recruit those who already are familiar with, and convinced of the desirability, of working closely in small teams, similar to the hunting parties of paleo times.

A recent book (on our to read list) makes the case for living more tribally, and that what we call "Post Traumatic Stress Disorder" is actually, often largely caused by lack of the close associations that returning vets had, but now don't. The book is, Tribe: On Homecoming and Belonginge by Sebastian Junger and the Amazon blurb reads:

We have a strong instinct to belong to small groups defined by clear purpose and understanding--"tribes." This tribal connection has been largely lost in modern society, but regaining it may be the key to our psychological survival.

nice post

The editor seems to have gone wonky on me, and won't allow me to add the link to the book where wanted, so here it is:
