Four times world champions Italy has failed to qualify for Russia 2018 World Cup after playing a 0-0 draw with Sweden in the second leg of world cup qualification playoff. Italy needed to overturn a 1-0 first leg defeat to Sweden. Despite a 75 percent ball possession, 21 goal attempt, Italy failed to utilized their chances. This disappointment will also see an end to the football career of prominent stars like Bonucci, De Rossi, Chiellini, and Buffon. This is the first time in 60 years that Italy has failed to qualify for the World Cup. Congrats to Sweden.
