Is Jared Goff a Legit Number 1QB going forward?

The former number 1 overall pick is having an outstanding year. The Rams are having a resurgence behind their new coach Sean McVay. The young offensive mind of McVay has put the Rams back into contention, which very few expected. Not to be passed over however has been the play of now 2nd year QB Jared Goff. Goff is playing at a much higher level, the level he was drafted to play at. With an offense that’s clicking behind the running game of Todd Gurley, and new passing weapons Robert Woods, Cooper Kupp, and even Sammy Watkins as a decoy, Jared Goff is thriving in this new environment. And thankfully ex-head coach Jeff Fisher is no longer permitted within one thousand miles of the premises. With all these new upgrades, Goff has been able to compile 2,385 passing yards, along with 16 TD’s and only 4 picks in 9 games. The only game where you saw him struggling this year was against the Jaguars defense at Jacksonville, which has been the best D in the league. Everyone else, Goff is able to carve up. The Rams have won all their games or lost by a possession or less. With the Rams D playing well also behind the likes of DT Aaron Donald, Goff has been able to stay in the game with great field position. Just in the last two weeks, Goff has thrown for 666 yards and 7 TD’s with no interceptions. Granted he was playing the New York Giants and a now weak Houston D, it was still impressive. Now he has the Vikes in Minnesota. By far his toughest test since Jacksonville, if he is able to get it done today against Everson Griffen and the rest of the Vikings D, he will be established as a matchup proof QB 1 going forward. Going up against a surging New Orleans D, Patrick Peterson and the Arizona D, the 1st place Eagles, and then the Seahawks in Seattle in the next 4 weeks, he’s got a long road ahead. Arizona and Seattle were two of his toughest matchups when he played them earlier this year, with three of his 4 picks coming in these two games. Both the Vikings and Rams look playoff bound, so if Goff gets it going today and is able to out throw a new and improved Case Keenum, we will be seeing a QB that is going to lead many to fantasy championships.
