Neymar’s dad met Barcelona chiefs last night with £196m deal to sell star to PSG agreed
According to the Spanish newspaper Marcia it says NEYMAR’s dad held talks with Barcelona chiefs today after Paris Saint-Germain agreed to pay a £196m fee for the Brazilian superstar. The fee is more than double the world record fee of £89m paid by Manchester United for Paul Pogba and almost two-and-a-half times that paid by Real Madrid for Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009. Despite the implications for UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules the French side are increasingly confident that they can complete the deal. Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu had a meeting with Neymar in the US on Friday and it is believed the 25-year-old made it clear that he wants to leave. It has also been suggested that he has told team-mates he will be playing for PSG and has agreed a contract of £27m a year, after tax. Neymar’s team-mates tried to convince him to stay before the game.
But it appears to have fallen on deaf ears with the deal already at an advanced stage and a meeting with Neymar dad and board members having been held in America.
Tottenham ‘close to signing German U21 star Jeremy Toljan’ from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim
The 22-year-old Hoffenheim defender, who can play either full-back position, has just a year left on his deal with the Bundesliga club. And according to Portuguese newspaper Record Sport, Spurs are set to beat Benfica to the highly-rated youngster.
The Eagles are said to have given up the chase for Toljan, knowing they can’t compete financially with Spurs.
Toljan, who made his debut for Hoffenheim aged 18 in 2013, is tipped as a future star for the German national team.
He has been capped at every level from Under-17 to U21 – helping that side win the U21 Euros last month.
The athletic Toljan, who stands 6ft tall, had been linked with Chelsea and Napoli earlier this year.
Paris Saint-Germain call a halt to pursuit of Alexis Sanchez
Alexis Sanchez’s potential move to Paris Saint-Germain has been put on hold, according to reports in France.
The Arsenal forward met with the Ligue 1 club’s sporting director Antero Henrique on Friday to discuss terms of a four-year contract at the Parc des Princes.
But French newspaper, Le Parisien, understand the capital club have called a halt to negotiations as they attempt to push through a world-record deal for Barcelona star Neymar.
PSG are reportedly ready to pay the Brazilian’s £199million release clause and provide wages totalling £500,000-a-week, in a bid to lure him away from the Camp Nou.
Sanchez has stated his desire to play Champions League football next season despite Gunners boss Arsene Wenger insisting his prized asset is not for sale.
The 28-year-old has one year remaining on his contract at the Emirates Stadium and remains a target for Pep Guardiola and Manchester City, who could step in if PSG drop their interest.
