Australian Hyundai A-League action continues today when 6th placed Adelaide United host 3rd placed Melbourne City. Adelaide looking to hit equal 4th with a positive result tonight, while City need to turn around recent poor form to keep their spot in the top four.
With City only winning once in their last five A-League matches, it would be a brave man to pick them tonight, but stranger things have happened, and, after all, they have still had a great season, and sit in third at the moment. Adelaide haven't fared much better, winning just twice in their last five, but a new "secret" consortium of owners may bring a much needed boost to the side that hopes to play finals this season.
Danish professional Johan Absolonsen gets his start tonight, along with three others in a move aimed at freshening up the team, perhaps at the decision of the clubs new owners. Regardless, Adelaide look hungry, and will go into tonight's clash as slight favorites.
For City, a 2-1 loss to arch rivals Melbourne Victory last week, preceded by a 2-1 away loss to Perth Glory in a match they had a man sent off and a 4-0 thumping by Sydney the week before that mean City desperately need to get back to winning ways as the finals loom closer.
The Prediction
Both teams need the points, and both teams will show more than enough to hit the back of the net at least once. Take both teams to score at odds of $1.70.
