LONDON (Reuters) - Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has decided to give Nemanja Matic the green light to make his move to Manchester United, the Daily Mail reported.
The newspaper pointed out that the Russian billionaire decided to intervene in the same as in 2015 when he allowed goalkeeper Peter Chek to join Arsenal at will, despite the rejection of coach Jose Mourinho at the time.
In recognition of his contribution to the club, Abramovich has decided that Chelsea will not be on the path of the Serbia national team, who also wants Juventus and Inter Milan.
Matic is hoping to play again under the leadership of Mourinho, who led him to the English Premier League title 2014-2015.
Lucco tax
But United have to pay the "Lucaco tax," according to the report's description, as an implicit compensation for his entry into striker Romilo Lucaco, who was close to joining Chelsea before United.
The two clubs have yet to agree on the transfer of the 28-year-old from Chelsea to United.
Chelsea rejected a preliminary bid by Red Devils officials for £ 35 million.
