The Corona virus pandemic has continued to dish out its casualties on daily basis without mercy and without any sign of slowing down.
Aside the hits taken by various governments of the world, companies and other businesses, the world of sports is not spared as well. Among the sports that is has taken the hardest hit is Football, rudely interrupted by the covid-19 pandemic, unfortunately, in France, the League 1 and League 2 seasons will not resume as usual. Before now, it was hoped that football leagues will resume in June and finish one month later, but that is not to be. The realization has downed on everyone that Professional football cannot regain her rights before the month of August and will therefore be hit hard at 2020/2021 season.
The decisions not to commence with the remaining season was arrived at when the Prime Minister of France Edouard Philippe made the announcement earlier yesterday. Club owners are not pleased with the development, but can they do? In fact, some of them have already accepted the decision of the government.
In the final analysis, one can but only applaud the decisions of the French government considering the persistent covid-19 pandemic that refused to leave. It would have been a different thing entirely if a vaccine or at least a medicine to treat it has been found.
Remember to observe social distance, use hand sanitizer, wash your hands, don’t touch your mouth and eyes and most especially, stay at home. It is better to be locked down at home and to be locked down in a morgue.
