‘Liverpooool’. That’s the usual tweet from known Liverpool fan Samuel L. Jackson after great wins. I hope he gets to tweet that after the champions league final. We’re back aren’t we? For so long we suffered. For so long we wallowed in tattered penury. For so long we slumbered. For what seems like a lifetime, we were in the doldrums. In that period of suffering, we were for all intents and purposes, Everton.
Then came the German revolution. Jürgen Norbert Klopp walked through the door and the rest is becoming history for this great club. This amazing German, with his bold and brazen bravado has revived the club. In his first interview he said he sought to turn us from doubters to believe. In the beginning it was hard to envision, leading to periods of doubt. But now we finally heed the battle cry of our fearless leader. Jürgen, We Believe!
Two years ago, we were in another European final. Much was touted about how that trophy along with qualification for the UCL would effectively kick off the next era of glory for us. Sadly, Sevilla had more to say about that than we wanted. It would have been the start of something special. Little did we know that special something had already started. Fast forward, we are in the Champions League Final. The big brother and the realer deal. Klopp did say that Europa League final wouldn’t be our last and that we should come to feel like we belong in such climates, rather than feeling like it’s a once in a lifetime thing. Here we are and here we go again…
