FIFA has just taken the playoff round of World Cup 2018 World Cup qualifiers. Guided by Vanessa Huppenkothen and Fernando Hierro, the draw was held at FIFA headquarters, Zurich, Switzerland on Tuesday night, October 17, 2017, Western Indonesia Time. The draw was also followed by representatives from countries that entered the play-offs.
The day before the draw was held FIFA set four teams entered in the seed pot. It is based on their ranking in FIFA rankings in October. Four leading teams namely: Switzerland, Italy, Croatia and Denmark.
Here are the results of the full draw:
Northern Ireland vs Switzerland
Croatia vs Greece
Denmark vs Republic of Ireland
Sweden vs Italy
The match will be held with home and away systems. The team that can achieve better results on an aggregate basis, it will qualify directly for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. They will complete eight other European countries that have already qualified for the 2018 World Cup.
There has been no definitive schedule of this play-off round. But, the first leg match will be held on 9 to 11 November. Meanwhile, the second leg will be held on 12 to 14 November.
