Being sidelined through injury was a very difficult period for, not being able to do what I love which is to be burning up the track. This affected me in a way that I could not even bare the sight of seeing my teammates training so I decided not to go to the training grounds after school. I was depressed for a long while, limping around school, moving gingerly and in pain all the time. After all that the hardest part of it all was hearing the doctor tell me that I wouldn't be able to compete on the track again due to the ligament damage i suffered. At that time we never had the resources to do any form of corrective surgery to even give me a chance of going back out there.
During my recovery process I decided not to giving up as I knew that even though track & field was over for me I was still good at other sports namely cricket, basketball and football. As soon as i was able to walk normally again I began to workout and do strengthening exercises for my knee so I could be fit enough for those sports. After weeks of extensive work I was finally able to participate in sporting activities again representing my school in cricket and basketball.
After leaving high school my main sports were cricket and basketball, representing my local community teams. After being a part of the community cricket team for a few seasons I was selected to be the captain of the team. I am not currently playing either of those sports because the cricket team has been disbanded and most of the basketball players have migrated to other countries.
Football is what I have fallen back on playing in the community football league.
