Liverpool 4-0 Arsenal: Wretched Gunners humiliated

in football •  7 years ago

Conceding another four goals at Anfield was no surprise, what was indeed surprising or should I say unbelievable, was watching a team of supposedly professionals playing like they had just met each other on the first day of football school.

A penny for the thoughts of Steve Bold, sitting with his arms crossed most probably wondering if his legacy will forever be tarnished by close association with this abject group of pounces masquerading as representatives of The Arsenal. The once key component of the legendary back four/five described as the best defensive unit ever has either forgotten the training ground drills he used to partake in or is now simply a yes man content with picking up his pay packet.

Yes, it might be a tad unfair to single out Bould when others played a more direct role in the travesty that transpired last Sunday, but it's his role that confounds me.

The board are content with the stability and positive financial results delivered by the manager who in turn has prepared and sent out teams over the last decade that have delivered numerous humiliating performances. But Bould? I imagined him as a no nonsense, tough talking, fist banging type who knows the history of this famous club and what it means to wear the Red and White of The Arsenal.

How can he be in the same dressing room as this group of players without getting a restraining order or answering questions from the local boys in blue?

As for the game itself, Liverpool were well worth their two goal halftime lead given to them by Firmino and the excellent Mane. My man of the match though was Salah who has improved considerably since his Chelsea days. He outpaced Bellerin in a 70 yards dash from deep in his own half to clinically curl a shot round Cech and inside the left post. The highlight of his performance for me was his wonderful cross for Sturridge to head home the fourth.

Next up, the unnecessary international break followed by Bournemouth at home which I predict will be a reversal of the Anfield scoreline.

Mane is a handful

Agreed. One of my fav current player. Pace, power and knows where the goal is. He will have a great season, injuries permiting.
