The Olimpico
stadium in Rome is preparing to host the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa Final between Fiorentina and Inter on 24 May.
Innovative filming modalities with cinematographic optics, cameras never before used in a football match and a drone will accompany the fans in the narration of the entire event, from the pre-match to the celebrations for winning the trophy.
A major television production, with the use of more than 38 cameras on the field (including Host cameras, the Club`s thematic channel, special content creation for social media use and integration cameras of the primary national licensee Mediaset and the international broadcaster ESPN), including, in addition to the Steadycam Venice
and an extra gimbal with cinema optics, a drone and Robycam that allows aerial images up to a minimum of 15 metres from the pitch.
Thanks to the collaboration with Sony Japan, the following ultra-performance cameras will be used, which will enable shots at the level of great cinema shows:
HDC-F5500 with HDVF-EL760 doubling the main camera positions (HDC-4300), for match filming and coverage of the opening and closing ceremonies;
HDC-3500 with HDVF-EL760 and Variable ND Filter, for shading and improved depth of field management;
HDC-4800 ultra slow-motion up to 16x with integrated server, for replays that emphasise the most spectacular game action;
FR7 positioned in the players` tunnel for images with reduced depth of field.
Another great innovation will be the images produced by a Rail-Cam branded Frecciarossa, Title Sponsor of the competition, which will move on rails positioned opposite on the long side of the field, at the height of the playing field, providing a unique and close moving point of view on the actions, which will be shown in the replays with graphics dedicated to Frecciarossa.
In addition, an experimental Augmented Reality technology will be used (with the technological partner Hawk Eye) to create a feed, parallel to the traditional multi-feed, integrated with a unique set of evolved statistical data, for use by Lega Serie A and possibly the primary broadcaster Mediaset on its digital platforms.
"The transformation of Lega Serie A into a media company now allows us to produce high quality products and to always push ourselves further to innovate the storytelling of our events - said Luigi De Siervo, CEO of Lega Serie A -. On the occasion of Fiorentina-Inter we will give broadcasters the opportunity to show fans connected from all over the world innovative and spectacular images with perspectives never seen before on a football pitch, from those closest to the field of play, to aerial ones so as not to lose any of the atmosphere and emotions of the Final. In fact, we will be the first in the world to use in a football match Sony`s brand new HDC-F5500 and HDC-3500 with Variable ND Filter cameras, which exploit the most advanced technology currently available for live filming".
