Since October 1996, Arsène Wenger has managed Arsenal FC, an English association football club based in North London. The club plays in England's first division: the English Premier League (EPL).

Under his leadership, the association football club has qualified for Europe's most popular sporting competition since the 1998/1999 football season. That consistency at UCL qualification may have been the only positive aspect of his long reign of inconsistency at winning competitions.

Some argue that Arsène Wenger transformed Arsenal from a second tier football club to a first tier one that has attracted fanatic fans from the world over. He brought in foreign players who played attractive football that won over fans and encouraged other English clubs to follow Arsenal's model. As a manager, he shares the record of having won the most number of English FA Cups with six wins and on 27 May 2017, he has the chance to win a seventh FA Cup.

Others argue that the club has always been a top tier club, at least in England where it was last relegated in 1913 and has been playing in the first division since it was promoted back controversially in 1919. It is the increased global popularity of the EPL that has contributed to the club's increased global fanbase. Some add that Arsène Wenger's first first division title win in his second year in charge was Arsenal's 11th. At that point in time, rivals Manchester United FC also had 11 first division titles. Manchester United has since gone on to win 9 other titles and lead with 20 while Arsenal has only won two.

After 9 years without winning any competition, Arsène Wenger finally won the FA Cup in 2014 after last winning it in 2005. His last contract was expiring in 2014 and it was renewed after the 2014 FA Cup win. He won it again in 2015. In 2017, Arsène Wenger can still win the FA Cup but the club has not qualified for the UCL unlike in 2014 and that may force some fans to demand for his contract not to be renewed and for the club to get a new manager.
