Zinédine Yazid Zidane | From great players to successful coach #1

    Zinédine Yazid Zidane (also nicknamed Zizou, born June 23, 1972 in Marseille, France), is a former French footballer. Zidane was born in the port city of Marseille, French and is a son of an immigrant family,  Algerian. His father and mother, Smail and Malika, emigrated from the village of Aguemone in the Kabylie region of Algeria in 1953 to settle in Paris, before moving to Marseille a few years later.

PLAYER CAREER

   Zidane started his career at Cannes, debuting in Ligue 1 on May 20, 1989, when AS Cannes hosted FC Nantes on Nantes's Stadium. At that time, Zidane was less than 17 years old. On February 8, 1991, he scored his first goal against Nantes.

    Zidane moved to FC Girondins de Bordeaux in the summer of 1992 at the age of 20. He scored 10 goals in the first season and 6 in the next three seasons and became the soul of the team. Here, with the combination of the perfect trio of Zidane, Bixente Lizarazu and Christophe Dugarry on three lines, Bordeaux won the Intertoto Cup to enter the European arena with "back door". In this tournament, Bordeaux made a big surprise when defeating AC. Milan 3-0 in the first leg thanks to the shine of Zidane and Dugarry. In the final against Bayern München, Zidane was suspended. The non-Zidane team lost 0-2 and lost the 1996 UEFA Cup to their opponents.

In 1996, Zidane moved to Italy for the UEFA Champions League Juventus F.C. with a transfer fee of £ 3 million. He won the Scudetto in the 1996-97 season and the Intercontinental Cup, but lost in the C1 Championships in 1-3 with Borussia Dortmund. He scored seven goals in 32 appearances to keep Juventus on track for the Scudetto next season, but also lost the second consecutive season in the Champions League, this time against Real Madrid.

    In 2001, Zidane joined Real Madrid with a fee of 76 million euros, the most expensive transfer fee in football history in a four-year deal.

   He scored his goal to bring Real to the 9th Champions League and his first European Cup win against Bayer Leverkusen in 2002. The following season, Zidane helped the club win the championship La Liga and the third time he was voted FIFA Player of the World.

   At Real then there was a galaxy of bright stars like Luís Figo, Roberto Carlos, David Beckham, Ronaldo, Raúl González ... but many newspapers claim that Zidane is about 50 percent of Real power.

   In 2004, fans voted him "Best European Player" in the past 50 years through an Internet vote. Also on the 100th anniversary of FIFA, he was voted in the list of 100 players of all time football (FIFA 100).

The spirit of the French team

   Zidane has dual nationality in both France and Algeria, and thus qualifies for the Algerian national team, but he chose France.

   On August 17, 1994, he was first called up for the national team at the age of 22 before the Czech Republic in Bordeaux's Parc Lescure. He entered the field in the 63rd minute when France were led 0-2. But with Zidane on the field, things have changed. He scored a double goal against France in a 2-2 draw.

   Since then, Zidane has become an indispensable player in France's youthful strategy towards 1998's World Cup coach Aimé Jacquet. Despite all the criticism, Jacquet put all his trust in Zidane and sharply dismissed the stars as Eric Cantona, Ginola ...

   Euro 1996 was his first major international tournament. In the role of defensive midfielder, Zidane led the French team into the semi-finals before the Czech Republic on penalties. However, this is the league that he and his team did not leave much impression.

   Zidane's career peak was the 1998 world championship with France at home. Most memorable is the two goals in the final match with Brazil to help France first crowned. Zidane continued to advance with France by winning the Euro 2000 championship. France became the first team to hold both world and European championships since the West German national football team's in 1974.  Zidane was voted the Euro 2000's best player.

   On June 12, 2004, after France was defeated by Greece from Euro 2004, Zidane announced his retirement from international football. However, when the French team was too struggling with the 2006 World Cup qualifiers, at the invitation of Coach Raymond Domenech, Zidane returned to the squad and was immediately given the captain's armband. With Zidane back, France went on to  the World Cup final.

   On May 27, 2006, Zidane scored 100 times for the national team in a 1-0 win over Mexico, becoming the fourth Frenchman to achieve this after Marcel Desailly, Didier Deschamps and Lilian Thuram.

  Zidane announced his retirement from the 2006 World Cup.
