Great post! Tough to see him retire - he's one of my all-time favorites - but you're right; it's best for his career moving forward. I thought he might want one more shot to do some damage at the World Cup, but it makes sense that he'd retire. I guess he doesn't have much left to prove after breaking Bobby Charlton's scoring record!
