Aubamegoal

The name right now on the lips of most, if not all Arsenal fans is Pierre Emerick Aubameyang. The Gabonese looks like the prime target of Arsenal in this winter transfer window. The days leading to today have been filled with so many rumours and hearsay with nothing concrete except Arsene Wenger’s admission of an ongoing negotiation to bring the Borussia Dortmund start to the Emirate stadium. A welcomed addition if you ask me.

As an Arsenal fan I’ve give with so many years and transfer seasons of many “nearly” deals Arsenal pulled off. I can still recollect freshly the several names linked with Arsenal, only to wake up one morning and hear they’ve b snapped up by rival teams. Very heartbreaking for faithful Arsenal fans you can say. One of the numerous “nearly” deals was Aubameyang when he first rose to limelight.

Personally, I am a fan of the Gabonese who has a good goal scoring record bettered perhaps only by Robert Lewandoski in the Budensliga. His arrival for me would be a coup and could have a lot of positive impact on the Arsenal team. He’s pace and an high for goal – core ingredients to succeed in the EPL. I have just two fears as regard the dealimages.jpeg

The first been the manner with which he’s leaving Dortmund – if he eventually leaves- which is his attitude which saw him fined and dropped by the Signal Eduna outfit. I wouldn’t welcome an Arsenal player turning rebel to in order to leave the team. Although, Sven Milsintat, who worked with him in Germany has come out to defend him saying “it is not in his character”. I pray so.

My second and final fear is the “nearly’ syndrome of Arsenal. This deal. Looks “too close” to lose for Arsenal. I would not be only disappointed if Arsenal fail to finally snap him up this month but would also question their quality and ambitiousness to lure quality players over to North London.

I hope it all turns out good.

A faithful gooner.

I think the nearly syndrome should be a bigger fear for you than the attitude to leave.

Cavani, Lemar, Higuain, Mkhitrian (first time), all were top player you lot missed out on.

I'm a West Ham fan and I will never forgive Payet the way he left us. As a football fan, I 100% understand why he did it. However as a football FAN, you expect your player to sit down and negotiate: "look West Ham, I want to leave. I will still give my 100% for you but you have to let me leave at the end of the season". We would've been upset, but we would've let him go.

Same with Auba to you guys. He should say he's been a faithful servant for Dortmund, but now he wants a different challenge. Not just throw his toys out his pram to force a move....as long as the club also plays their part and lets the player go in the end lol

Wow. You're so spot on. The Payet case really upset me. He is a player close to my heart but that stunt he pulled... Fam... My likeness for him dropped. Your analysis are 👌. I just hope this one goes a step beyond "nearly". Thanks for dropping by.

The last few years prove that most in demand players generally use the "interest of Arsenal FC" to drive up their prices and end up signing for some other club who are willing to offer bigger pay. Apart from Lacazette and Xhaka , most of the big name signings from last few seasons have been discards by bigger clubs e.g. Ozil from Madrid and Sanchez from Madrid.

Hmmm... I think I agree with your opening analysis of those players using Arsenal's interest to drive up their prices. 👌

Lets keep our fingers crossed and see what will happen at the summer.
