Robin Hood

The Popular tale of heroic outlaw in English Folklore Robin Hood, robbing and taking from the rich to redistribute to the poor is not just limited to the the movie but also present in football - Liverpool.

Liverpool have made it a point of duty to slug it out like a do or die affair when it comes to the top teams in the league (robbing the rich) but when faced with lesser or lower oppositions, they falter and betray the performances against those big teams (giving to the poor) which has seen them being written off as a title contender.

Not far away a couple of weeks ago, AGAINST Manchester City at Anfield, we all saw a Liverpool that was hungry and determined. Prior to that game, they had not lost in over ten games and a lot of us (well most of us that support opposition teams) believed and wanted Liverpool to at least, end the unbeaten run of the Citizens, which they did. One would have thought it was the beginning of a successful climb for the Reds.

Fast forward to last game week, they found Relegation threatened Swansea City a tough not to crack and one would but wonder if it was not the same Liverpool that routed Manchester City. That is one thing I think separates "title jokers" like Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool from "title contenders", The Two Manchester Clubs and Chelsea, the ability to sleepover even on the worst of days. This was seen in City's result in about Four to five games where they had to keep it late to win 2-1. We also saw that in the season Leicester won the league they had a handful of slim victories which eventually stood them out. That's the stuff champions are made of. Liverpool like Arsenal and Tottenham are just consistently inconsistent.

The yesterday in the FA Cup again, West Bromwich Albion did not spare the blushes of the And Anfield faithful by sending them crashing out of the tournament in the fourth round courtesy of a 3-2 defeat. This means That Jurgen Klopp has been eliminated in the fourth round for the third year running since taking over at Liverpool. Guess the FA Cup is not one of his talents...lol.

One thing that has always brought up question marks about the Liverpool side has been their defence line. It has never been reliable. We saw what happened WITH Sevilla in the UCL. Sevilla came from three goals down to draw a Match Liverpool should have clearly routed their opponent. Then again we saw a shaky end to the game against Manchester City and I believe if there was a little bit more time, City could have drawn, if not won that match (not like I wanted City to win anyway). Last season against Bournemouth, their fragility was shown at the back when Bournemouth almost completed a come back after the 65th minute.

Well, with the arrival of Virgil Van Dijk and prayer that Matip steps up.. We can hope to see a Liverpool that will relive the Benitez era.

In other news, I JUST HOPE arsenal bring in Aubameyang this winter.
