Former Liverpool defender, Alberto Moreno has joined La Liga side, Villareal on a five-year deal.
After spending five years in England, making 141 appearances for Liverpool and scoring on three occasions, the left-back returns to Spain after been released at the end of his contract in June by the Reds
The 27-year-old defender was presented to the fans on Wednesday after passing his medicals and undergoing his first training session with the team with his contract, the only thing left to be signed.
Andrew Roberston pushed Moreno down the pecking order as Liverpool continued to keep up the impressive top performance that led them to win the Champions League last season, with the Spaniard making just five appearances.
Moreno made 62 appearances for Sevilla having come through the ranks at Sevilla, where he scored three goals and registered five assists, before joining Liverpool from Sevilla for a reported fee of about £12 million.
He becomes Villarreal’s third signing this summer following the successes of deals for defensive duo Raul Albiol and Ruben Pena who both joined from Napoli and Eibar.
The Yello Submarines finished in 14th position in La Liga last season, just seven points above the relegation zone and nine behind the Europa League places in a fierce mid-table tussle.
