The ex-England captain got the first goal of the game in the 33rd minuted slotting home a pass from Luciano Acosta beneath another former Manchester United and Everton player, Tim Howard.

Rooney almost got his second early in the second half but Howard this time around would deny him, first coming off the bar before scrambling to pick it up.

The 32-year old got an assist on his first outing for Dallas on July 14 in the victory over Vancouver.

Dallas got the much needed the win as they started the game at bottom of the Eastern Conference against a Colorado Rapids side second bottom in the Western Conference.

Colorado Rapids equalised through Kellyn Acosta who had missed a penalty earlier in the game but Dallas won the game with a stroke of luck after Niki Jackson turned the ball into his own net in an attempt to clear a cross.

Rooney however left the game in a however left the Audi pitch with a broken nose.

Wow! Bitter sweet; they won and also got a broken nose...ouch.

I personally like Rooney and his achievements speak. He might be dropping in standards and all, but he has good eyes for goal and also a good creator.

I can but agree with that. He's been consistent over the years even when the chips are down. I just hope he knows the right to time to call it quite.

The great ones know it's best to say bye when the ovation is highest.

Absolutely...i hope he knows when to call it quit and it is quite sad he doesn't get the recognition his talent deserves. If he can switch to the midfield and try to dictate play from there, it might take a big chunk of scrutiny from his inability to score more goals as a striker.
