Leicester Too Hot for Spurs

Tottenham’s hopes of a first Premier League crown are dead in the water as two stunning goals from Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez gave Leicester a 2-1 win.

Vardy opened the scoring with a delightful volley before Mahrez added a second just before half time, with an inch-perfect curler from the edge of the box.

Harry Kane pulled one back, but if Christian Eriksen had scored an absolute sitter, it would have been a different outcome. The one positive Tottenham can take from the game is the return of Erik Lamela, who made his first appearance in over a year.

Vardy puts Leicester ahead in spectacular fashion

Leicester took the lead thanks to Vardy’s stunning finish. Marc Albrighton cross the ball over and Vardy allowed the ball to drop over his shoulder before firing it into the net with a first-time volley to leave Tottenham keeper Hugo Lloris no chance.

Spurs almost hit back immediately, but Kasper Schmeichel saved well from a Moussa Sissoko's attempt and with the ball trickling towards goal Vicente Iborra rushed back to clear the ball. Shortly after, Dele Alli was also denied an equalizer by Schmeichel, as the Dane got down low to keep out the midfielder's effort.

Mahrez doubles Leicester's lead with an inch perfect curler

Tottenham were punished for their missed chances as Leicester ended the first half with their 2nd goal. Mahrez burst down the wing before cutting onto his left and creating space. He then curled a beauty past Lloris into the back of the net. It was harsh on Spurs, but if you don’t take your chances, you get punished in the Premier League.

Spurs began to throw everything at Leicester in the second half, and should have scored but Eriksen completely messed his effort as he tried with his right foot when he should have gone with his left.

Harry Kane scored again, but Tottenham's chances of Premier League glory are gone

A short while after, Kane did reduce the deficit. The returning Lamela threaded a ball through for the England captain, and he fired the ball into the top corner.

Fernando Llorente almost equalized for Spurs but he volleyed over from six yards out, and it was the last of the threats as Leicester held on to pick up their fourth league win of the season. For Tottenham it was their fourth defeat, the same amount in the whole of last season, and they remain a massive 13 points behind leaders Manchester City, who have a game in hand.

Although Tottenham’s chances of premier league glory was gone, I hope at least Harry Kane will be top scorer at the end of premier league season.

Great analysis and good presentation skills. i like it @steemsports

I would love to say kudos to leicester city. The two goal are mouth opening goals and spectacular goal. Although am not supprise. Mahrez and Vardy have been doing that. Now tottenham have to sit up or else with their present form, they would not be in the champions league next season. Nice update @steemsports. Keep it up.

Good analysis @steemsports...
