A penny for Barcelona's thoughts at about 5.53pm UK time on Saturday evening.

That was when Philippe Coutinho - the apple of Barca's eye all summer, who had already produced a brilliant assist for a Mohamed Salah goal - stepped up to a free-kick at Leicester's King Power Stadium, and promptly dispatched a brilliant effort into the top corner.

Granted, it took a little nick on the way through, but it didn't change the trajectory of the ball, with Foxes goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel left helpless.

And for many, it was the final confirmation that Liverpool were entirely correct to resist Barca's overtures in the summer, despite the enormity of their bids for his services.
