Why Chelsea can never be afraid of Manchester United, Manchester City

in football •  7 years ago

Manchester City and Manchester United are on their top form, agreed. Having these two managers Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho which happen to be among the best coaches in the world, really, rival fans have every right to be really scared.

Those fears will only have intensified with both sides picking up 13 points out of a possible 15 so far this term, scoring 16 goals in the process. However, fear not Chelsea fans, here’s why you should not be too worried about the top form of the two Manchester teams.

Shockingly, this is actually Man City’s WORST start to a Premier League campaign since 2014/15. In 2015/16, Manchester City, under Manuel Pellegrini won all of their first five games, before losing two on the bounce. Last time around in 2016/17, Pep Guardiola started his career in England’s top tier with six consecutive victories, but then won just three of their next nine in the league.

Man United also started well last season. They won their first three Premier League games and finally finished sixth. Though they have drafted in reinforcements in the summer that will undoubtedly help them, will it be enough to elevate them from Champions League battlers to champions? That is yet to be seen.

Now, after six games last season, Chelsea discovered themselves eight points behind Manchester City after their top form starts to their campaign. Chelsea finished 15 points ahead of them. The title is not won or lost in the first few weeks of the season, once Chelsea gets Eden Hazard fit and firing, it will be another discussion.
