Dutch veteran Dirk Kyut played his farewell game one year after he hang the boots up. "Friends of Kyut" and Netherlands national team for one half each played against Feyenoord. In the second half Kyut scored his final goal at De Kuip from the penalty spot. Not his best goal but the moment was absolutely fantastic.
Lots of star players has joined the testimonial match such as Steven Gerrard, Rafael Van Der Vaart, Robin Van Persie, Frank de Boer, Nigel de Jong, Arien Robben, Jamie Carragher, Wesley Snejder and other Kuyt ex-partners from Utrecht, Feyenoord, Liverpool and Netherlands team.
- Last time Feyenoord made testimonial games like that in 1983 for their legendary midfielder Willem van Hanegem.
- During his 20-year career, Kuyt won Dutch and Turkish Championships (with Fenerbahce) and English League Cup.
- Also he played over 100 matches for the national squad with whom he won World Cup silver (2010) and bronze (2014).
- Kuyt will stay at Feyenoord as the head coach of U-19 team
I haven't been a fan of Dirk Kyut but I have tremendous respect for him and the respect he has shown for his own club. This is what football used to be back in the days.
