Spanish media keep on spreading tons of speculations on the subject of new Real Madrid manager. Champions League winners, whose new manager Julen Lopetegui was axed yesterday after just 4 months in charge, are seriously underperforming this season so far and currently placed on an unpleasing 9th spot on Primera table.
While the interim manager Santiago Solari will take care of the squad in the Cup game against Segunda B outfit Melilla, the club’s board is seeking for the new man.
Although Antonio Conte is still the main contender for the job, AS reports that club decided to postpone his appointment due the tension in Los Blancos dressing room – some of the players are extremely unhappy about perspectives of working under Italian specialist, well known for his stern temper.
According to AS reports, Michael Laudrup was asked to lead the team, but 53-year-old Dane refused the offer.
A source close to Laudrup stated that the coach was unsure about Real Madrid prospects and expressed his dislike of the unstable situation inside the club.
- Laudrup was a Real Madrid player in 1994-1996
- The last club he managed career was Qatari club Al-Ryyan.
