Reports suggest that on the rise star, Marco Asensio, has been offered the shirt, but decided to turn it down. Asensio is seen as the leading favorite to take over for Ronaldo in the long run.
Reports suggest that Asesnsio, who currently sports the #20 jersey, is waiting for the #10 to be freed up. That jersey is worn by Croatian Luka Modric who was linked with a move to Inter Milan.
