While i've been out walking i've been keeping an eye on the hedgerow blackberries.. So today i foraged a bag full for a blackberry and apple pie.

Because the blackberries are wild the fruits can be quite small but it just means collecting more.

When i got back i gave the blackberries a good soak and stir to get them clean. I picked a few larger apples from my apple tree and got on with making the pie.
I got the oven on and got to work on the shortcrust pastry
I coated the dish with butter and laid the pastry in
Thinly sliced the apples and layered them up with the blackberries
Then another layer of pastry to cover
then into the oven

and the result was...

A steaming hot pie
while it cooled i whipped up some custard
Then taste tested it ...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

maybe some elderberry jam next

That is a pie to be proud of. I could make a huge piece of that disappear.
