Some of you may already be aware of it, but in the event you haven’t heard, War will be declared tonight, Monday, July 13, 2020 at 8:00 PM EST, when Ford Motor Company officially unveils a trio of new Ford Bronco family of vehicles, that will go head-to-head against the Jeep Wrangler family of vehicles.
Make no mistake about, the gauntlet will be thrown down on Monday evening, and it will mark the official beginning of epic and non-stop battles to see who will be able to take leadership control of the Small Utility Off-Road Segment that in recent times Jeep has enjoyed pretty much exclusively.
However, as this writing is going to Press just minutes prior to Ford’s Bronco announcement & unveiling, it is unclear and yet to be seen, if Ford is ready to take off its gloves in this upcoming battle, and do something that it has never done before.
What I am speaking about is Ford’s reluctance up till now to take credit where credit is rightfully due, and at the same time fully educate its Bronco followers and enthusiasts about the real roots, pedigree, and heritage of the Bronco.
To illustrate what I mean, the vast majority believe that the Bronco’s roots date back to the mid-1960’s when Ford Motor Company announced the debut of the original 1st Generation of Broncos.
The truth of the matter is that the Bronco’s real heritage and pedigree goes back much further, starting more than 20-years earlier to a time period in the early 1940’s, resulting in Ford’s design & production of the World War II military vehicle that you see in the front photo - - which was officially named “Ford GP”, which was then shortened and phonetically slurred / sounded as “Geep”, and finally evolved to the spelling of “Jeep”.
Up till now Ford Motor Company has taken the high-road, and instead of taking credit for designing & building the true original WWII military Geeps / Jeeps like you see in the photo above, Ford has instead indicated it was a collaborative vehicle endeavor, where no one single manufacturer (out of the three manufacturers that were involved) could take sole credit for the vehicle.
On the surface, one could say that Ford has taken a very admirable, noble, and neutral position. However, the reality is that this is War, and once War has been declared it’s time to take off the gloves, take a no-prisoners attitude, and get ready to battle, in order to take every advantage possible to gain even the slightest amount of battlefield ground.
Moreover, let’s not forget that Jeep Wrangler has taken quite the opposite approach, and has always been quick to point out that the current Wrangler family of vehicles has a pedigree that starts with the WWII military Geeps / Jeeps starting in 1941. So, if Jeep Wrangler can take credit for this WWII military vehicle, then why is that Ford cannot?
Whether Ford Motor Company will take their gloves off tonight at 8:00 PM when the Bronco is unveiled, and tell the true story how the Bronco DNA can be traced all the way back to 1941 and the WWII Ford GP / Geep / Jeep, is yet to be seen.
Regardless, whether Ford does or does-not, you can be assured that this mini-Series will carry the baton for Ford, and take you back in time starting in 1941, explaining how Ford Motor Company not only built these WWII military vehicles known as Geeps / Jeeps, but also how Ford’s WWII designs are responsible for key features of how the Jeep Wrangler as well as the 1st Generation and new Bronco looks today.
As a result, you will learn how Ford can NEVER be accused of copying the Wrangler’s design appearance, when in fact many will point out that it’s really the other way around.
In summary, whether your loyalty and affection is for the Bronco or Wrangler, I am certain you will find this Series both interesting, informative, and even entertaining.
But make no mistake about it, War is coming, and it will be declared tonight in a matter of minutes, eventually resulting in epic battles, where Generals are ready to even unleash Raptors to battle against Rubicons, all with the understanding that the Spoils of War will go to the victor.
Lastly, like any War you cannot remain neutral, you must take a position! Why not make it an educated position, with the help of this short mini-Series - - stay tuned.
