Have you ever thought about how violent forgiveness is?
On the surface, I suppose it seems like the opposite, but true forgiveness is surpassingly violent toward the attitude of self-righteousness. It seeks the opposite of building your own reputation. Mercy and forgiveness tear down the notion that strength equals power. They celebrate the mighty humility of honesty and emphasize the value of community.
Forgiveness recognizes that being right doesn't always make things better.
It reveals that the highest form of control is self-control. It honors the humanity of the person you forgive. What have you noticed about forgiveness? I'd love to hear your stories!
