Forgotten Friday - The Last Sorcerer of Iceland House. (Original Photos)

Happy Friday everyone!  Or should I say "Happy Forgotten Friday"?  Every (almost) Friday I share some kind of cool abandoned, deserted, or otherwise forgotten piece of civilization that we've came across on our travels.

Today's subject is a spooky old house in the west of Iceland on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula.

Kylene and I love abandoned structures and urban decay, so our curiosity was spiked when we spotted this place in the distance, maybe a quarter mile or so from the highway.

There are a lot of abandoned houses in Iceland, once you get away from the capital.  I'm not exactly sure why, but not that many of them are accessible by car.  This one was so we drove right up to it.  There's not a ton of information on this house on the internet that isn't in Icelandic, but there was a monument (or grave marker) nearby that had a few names and dates on it.

Using some of the names on this monument, I did manage to find that this house has some ties to "the last sorcerer of Iceland", whatever that means.  He was a son of the couple who owned the farm.  I assume he was into some sort of witchcraft.

Nonetheless, the house is really picturesque in a creepy sort of way.  The roof is completely gone, leaving two tall peaks with window holes on either side.  Then the chimney rises up from the center of the ruins from a central fireplace.  Two of the four days we've visited, the skies were gray and overcast.  A perfect compliment to eerie look.

The photo right above was taken around 2 or 3 in the morning.  Especially, spooky!  The darkness shows of the cool silhouette of the house.  We actually like this place so much, we had a few wedding photos taken there!

Thanks @joserc.vzla! Glad you enjoy them..

That looks kind of scary. Were you not you afraid that the sorcerer will travel back to your home with you? :)

No, I wasn't worried about it @bescouted. I'm not a believer of magic, the supernatural, or even religions. It's just a cool and eerie place to visit.

I am a very pragmatic guy myself, nor am i religious but for some reason i get scared sometimes at the thought of supernatural lol

Very very nice friend :)
