It's the same for me, steem has gotten really quiet over recent months and there is little interaction. That said I really don't feel sad about it: It feels like the calm before the storm. Keeping up the work as best I can because I have great faith that this place will bloom again and we'll be "5 years ahead in life" for having stuck with it through the uneventful times.

Some of the people I cherish dearly have stopped using steem, but I have this intuition that they will be back. Life demands our attention at times more than other times and so I'm really not mad at anyone for taking a break.

It is almost a more cozy place to me at this time. Commenting will find you rubbing cyber shoulders with accounts that are familiar yet have had no previous interaction with you to date.

Of course there are those too busy winning Steem Monster tournaments and building up their Drug War operations to be able to curate at this time. Don't take in personally, it's only business. 😎

To increase your exposure you may consider using Google Translate to tap into the influx of Chinese users who are being brought to us by the efforts of @wherein, one of my delegation recipients. (Though not sure how those cuss words will translate. 😉)

I know how to cuss in hokkien Chinese 😂, thx for the support @novacadian I do need to remove any personal feelings or expectations as I came here with only a sense of social media adventure.

Social being the operative word, its not required to be all rainbows and unicorns. The reality is time is money and this is a business.

I know how to cuss in hokkien Chinese...

You should have a bright future then! 😆

I totally understand what you are saying, there are ways to grow an audience, but you have to revert to tactics which are not ment for me, i try to keep it real. Personally i have not posted much in months because even if i put in hard work, heart and soul, the engament was as much (or less) when i just posted a picture.

The platform lacks some things that other social media does have, (like a decent interface which updates, real social interactment, easy ways to reach out of your bubble etc etc) and (just like in a ponzi) the ones who came first, have the best reach ... and when you are not with the ‘incrowd’ it is hard to get any reach. Or you have to pay, but just like with the facebook, twitter paying for likes shares etc ... it is killing the soul of the platform .... and because of that I believe that steem is slowly cannibalizing itself, and that is a pity, because there was (and still is) a lot of potential. Especially because on regular social media, people are in desperate need and ‘crying’ for change and less regulation

Good to know I'm not alone. I'm not rage quitting yet 😂.. Alarm bells have been ringing since I came on but I'm sticking around because I do see potential here and I'm exposed to a, side of the tech world I'd otherwise be oblivious to..

Cheers @elektropunkz

This post was mostly social commentary, but I was a bit butt hurt and appreciate the interaction and wisdom @devann

Meh. Having followers is much overrated, especially by newish Steemians. Nominally, I’ve got over 2,000 of them but only a few dozen show up on a semi-regular basis.

Regular readers are gold, nominal followers are tin foil.

Yes, that's true.. I appreciate the sbi and the reality check.

I'm merely looking for some sense of community or engagement.

It tends to feel like I'm just writing a journal or diary, which has helped sharpen up my writing ability.

I'd be ecstatic with the gold standard of a few dozen interested and communicative followers. I didn't exactly show up at the most hospitable time. I just felt like sending out a I'm screaming on the inside post I guess. The response has been non hostile which says a great deal. Any other social media I'd have been lambasted for being a whiny noob..

I was gonna fuck the fuck off, but I decided commenting might be less strenuous;)

That's all I'm hoping for @deirdyweirdy..less strenuous more strenuous, just anything except crickets..thx for popping in

God dammit flag me or something to show ur not a bot..

FLAGGED!! 🖕

But this is hilarious 😂 thx for the laugh

Posted using Partiko Android

Well, not being a bot, I could never do anything better for you than to make you laugh for a while. :)

Now, being me one of those with three fuxoring years here on the steem blockchain without much comments or interaction either... all this time... I had no choice but improve my little dancing steps alone with myself further in the meantime.

erm... by the way, ¿Do you wanna dance? };)

Azucaaaaaa!! :)

I hear ya 😂

That's too bad @bengiles 😉 in all seriousness in a perfect ecosystem you'd be able to tell me you've had a totally different experience and have found steem to be filled to the brim with support, engagement, positivity, and a rational hope built upon an overwhelming sense of camaraderie.

I suppose that's a fantasy when participating in an ecosystem that at its core is driven by competition first and community a very distant second or seventh or something 😊

All the best to you mate. Thx for your show of solidarity. I think any of us newer steemians that have are eyes opened enjoy a healthy sense of skepticism.. Still here though, and that says something about us more than about steem..

Most of them will be bots or dead accounts.

There is some way of checking active followers I just can't remeber how!

Posted using Partiko Android

Ah, that would be cool to see who is legitimately an active user...

I was in an attention seeking mood I suppose when I made my rant.

It's been better received than I thought, so I'm glad I didn't wake up to any haters. Everyone has been positive or constructive..

Rant away - It's all part of steem. Feeling worthless that is.

Is there some lame ass algorithms that keeps y'all from seeing my shit ?

The answer is yes. Your posts never really appear in my feed, much like almost everyone I follow. It's always the same names, fed by the lack of algorithms you describe above. To find someone's stuff, I usually have to manually look them up if they come to mind, or get reminded to check em out if they're commenting on my stuff. I've been in your shoes and still am at times if it wasn't for a whale or two, and some good friends I made over my time here that have come to respect my hustle.

Keep at it. Share some music.

Thanks man I appreciate the encouragement and I suspected the dreaded algorithm was to blame.

I don't have a long list but I do try to occasionally go through my following list and show some love to any and all that have done the same for me.

I'll post up some tunes soon, mostly been doing projects for others that I'm hyper critical of so only bits and pieces reflect what my artistic aspirations are..

That would be frogging BTW.. If your kit doesn't have a frog, I highly recommend you rectify this major handicap.. Frogging is gonna be yuge!

Wow @skramatters

Got 134 followers yet only 6 of you ever comment or upvote me.. This is after months of not shit posting...

The problem is that most people visit Steemit only once every now and then. And most likely majority of your followers will not even know that you posted anything, because your post will not be visible in their newsfeed.

Unfortunatelly it seem that sending memo to all your followers (with link to your recent post) is the best way of informing people that you published new post.

ps.
How have you been doing lately? Finally I've reached Poland and I'm freezing my ass already.

I wanted to contact you regarding delegations that I provided you with. Would you still need me to keep that delegation or will you be okey without it? Please let me know :)

Cheers,
Piotr
