Hey, wondering if anyone might be able to answer this question
The new US laws #FOSTA & #SESTA are making it illegal for sites to host sex worker and escort ads - so Wordpress, Google, Twitter, GoDaddy and other sites are deleting their user accounts and directory sites are simply going offline. The site admins don't have the power to stand up to the US government.
This (as you might imagine) is making life harder and thus more dangerous for sex workers which is a damned shame! We who work in the sex industry want to do so safely of course.
I'm going to have to get my own site off GoDaddy before GoDaddy removes it. I could host in the UK, some parts of Australia and other places but I'm looking for a good platform that might be good for sex workers across the globe.
So my question is: how is steemit for a platform that might work for us? as it's decentralised and all posts live on the blockchain, does that mean there is no authority that can force a user off the platform? is there no authority that can delete accounts or force site admins to delete users? If the answers are what I think, then steemit is probably the next big platform for sex workers to start advertising our services.
Any advice or pointers most welcome.
Thanks in Advance, #SeaniLove
Hope this answer your question: There is no way to censor the steem blockchain, it's up to every webfacing front-ends (like steemit) to filter out the content they don't want.
So hosting a front-end in a jurisdiction where #fosta and #sesta either do not apply or can hardly be enforced would be a solution.

I will share my opinion, which may prove inaccurate, but here goes...
You have to draw a distinction between the steemit website and the steem blockchain. Steemit may have to comply with the law if it is hosted in the US. Is it? I don't know.
But that doesn't mean a different website, say one dedicated to sex workers, can't use the API to pull certain posts from the steem blockchain, and indeed allow posts to be made to it. It could also allow posts to be made, comments to be made, have its own ratings system, whitelists and blacklists and its own featured posts. It could display all posts that use a certain tag, regardless of origin, or only ones that were posted using the site.

I really hope there is someone that can answer your question. The problem will be getting your article noticed. I would suggest changing one of your tags to #steemit so it at least shows up in a tag stream people actually use. Maybe also #politics.
I will resteem so more people see this, hopefully.

In steemit no, but if you do it in another page where you are staying in another country whose American laws do not affect you, perfectly.
