' Fountainhead' by Ayn Rand is considered by many to be one of the best modern classic ever written, Ayn Rand's true masterpiece will always remain timeless. If anything, it will only get finer with it's value in future.
[Dean] “My dear fellow, who will let you?”
[Roark] “That’s not the point. The point is, who will stop me?
With architectural profession serving as a backdrop for the story, Ayn rand shows us her definition of an absolute ideal man who never compromised his ideology for any lust. A man who never faltered in his convictions. It's rich in details and philosophy, stunning in context and emotion. This book shows us the man who dared to take a new step, to utter a new word that most people fear the most.
If you observe, it is not so difficult to realise that most of the people these days live only for the social status, and financial security.
Especially in these times, they live for the society, satisified with submitting to their ways only to be accepted by them, which in turn finally make them feel better about themselves.
The people who have neglected their most sacred ambitions, their true inner calling because they were too scared for their future failure and are now content to be in the warm spot of an average life.
It reminds me of a quote from Henry David Thoreau
" Most men lead lives of quiet desperarion and go to the graves with their songs still inside them "
It also tells you what fear of a society and the worry of how you seem to it condemns you to a whole life of torture where you smile on the outside, content with your standing among others while deep inside you know you never really did what you were supposed to do, how you shied away from your true person. How easily you gave up to settle and consume onto other personalites that have been repeated over and over again million times over.
Howard roark was brave, he didn't care about failure or successs because he knew it is never the final stage and never will be. Nor is it a universal fact.
Roark is an antithesis of contemporary belief that an individual is molded by social forces. He is the true example of free will. The essence of his character is his unwavering devotion to his own thinking and judgement. He is the kind of man everyone was supposed to be, one who is not influenced by any external force. A man's Thinking and values should only by controlled by himself and not by society, god or fates.
This book also tells you to work towards what you actually desire. To live for yourself. And most importantly, and I wish and wish you to understand that ' it is never too late to start' work on your independent ideology, your own thinking and ways. And dont even bother to think how you dont even make nearly half of as much as people of your age do because this is your own timeline and in time to come if you kept your perseverance you might do wonders of extent you never anticipated.
Pick it. You will thank yourself, trust me.
Wish you all the strength.
Nice
