Mandelbulb 3D

I enjoy creating fractals using a program called Mandelbulb 3D. This program is arguably the best for creating fractals, and it allows you to also create animations, meshes that can be used as 3D models for animation programs, and it can even create 360 images and animations!

For those that are new to fractals, here is a general explanation. Fractals are infinitely repeating, self similar geometrical patterns, and the geometries created originate from mathematical equations. Users of fractal programs, such as Mandelbulb 3D, have access to many fractal equations. Users are able to combine the equations in exciting new ways, as well as tweaking variables within each equation.

There are vast communities of fractal creators and Mandelbulb 3D users, one favorite of mine is the Mandelbulb Maniacs on Facebook. I recommend joining the group and checking their work out! They also share combinations they found that create cool geometries, they have contests, and some of the worlds best fractal creators are members!

Another cool note, Mandelbulb 3D is often used by professional animators that work for Disney and other big hollywood productions! Often times high definition textures you see in CGI effects are created from fractals. They are in more places than you'd think!
