Drake had his higher education at Cornell University, U.S.A.
He is a pioneer in the search for extraterrestrial intelligence.
Frank Drake served at the University of California, Santa Cruz for a long period.
His Project Ozma (1960) was the first organized attempt to detect radio signals from extraterrestrial civilizations.
The project did not succeed as expected, but the continuing advocacy by Drake, Carl Sagan and a few others has since led to much more realistic and powerful searches for evidence of other intelligent creatures.
