PAPA-PEPPER = NOT AS GENEROUS AS YOU MAY HAVE THOUGHT

Or... "how to give things away without really losing them."

So, @papa-pepper has given a lot of things away to the steemit community; STEEM, SBD, T-shirts, Garden Seeds, Mugs, STEEM Silver Rounds, and even plants. However, not everything is always as it seems.

HOW TO "GIVE" & STILL KEEP!

PLEASE ALLOW ME TO EXPLAIN MYSELF

This is some of the crazy stuff I love about plants! Many months ago, I gave away some Mulberry trees to various steemians. Some I hand delivered, but others I mailed, like the five that I shipped up to @kiaraantonoviche in Wisconsin. To ship the bareroot plants to her, though, I trimmed off the tops so they could fit in the envelope.

Don't worry, hers are still grew, ans she was very pleased to receive them. However, it is what I did with the tops that I wanted to share with you...

When I trimmed off the tops of those seedlings, I planted them in the soil and kept them damp. Sure enough, they are alive and well! This means that although I "gave away" some plants to another steemian, I didn't really lose anything, because I still have the same plants growing! Don't you just love plant propagation?

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

Until next time…

How to make this comment
Steem on fellow Steemians!

That is how we got our blackberries from our grandma. She gave us a piece and we stuck it in the ground.

Very nice! Isn't amazing that God made some things work like that?

Ya it's pretty cool.

Super cool! I remember you said you had kept the tops but I didn't know they would do so well! I can't wait to get back to the homestead to check on the mulberries, they're thriving in their new home! Thank you again! Keep on Steemin!

Excellent. I was hoping that you'd see this! Isn't that cool? You can basically "print" new plants any time you want!

I'm definitely gonna have to try propagating this year, we have elderberries and such that I wanna multiply! I'll let you know how it goes lol!

Good thinking.

So nice of you

Look forward to getting a gift ..... If am worth it @papa-pepper

That's cool how you share plants

it's always inspiring me when ever i saw your post.thanks and keep post on steemit @papa-pepper

You're like Johnny Apple Seed or Johnny Mulberry Tree!

LOL - I've heard that before.... @mama-pepper.... @jed78.... now @otage....

Mulberries are cool.

  • We had one planted in 1900 by my great...uncle.
It took 3 people to reach around it.
Had to bulldoze it down when we bulldozed the old house, since it had split.
    • I had cut 3 2 foot limbs out of this tree and that gave it perhaps another 20 or so years before it split...

Mom tells about making mulberry jam...

Very cool observation... give away and still have it...

Wow! That sounds like an amazing tree!

Ohhh. Mulberries are the bomb! My goal is to get a place where I can grow some plants.

Do it! Get a place where you can plant some plants.

this nice plant @papa-pepper, i love this plant.
whether this will be fruitful.

Still very generous of you to help her out. And it's sweet that you don't actually lose the plants. Keep them growing!

Yeah, it works out really well that way!

Nature is just really beautiful. Its amazing how one plants a seed and the seed becomes a full tree that produces many more fruits with million seeds. Wow... God has blessed us.
You're such a rare gem @papa-pepper Keep being you.

Very fresh perspective @papa-pepper..

Wow. That is awesome, giving it out but not really losing anything. I just love the propagation of plant. You cannot lose, instead it keeps multiplying.

I will also have to say this, you are such a generous man. I'm one of those that have benefited from your generosity. Continue doing good sir

Thank you so much for your kind words my friend!

Cloning plants is awesome. You could go all out with some commercially available propagation powder, or even use a dab of honey to get them striking sooner and stronger!

Plant 1 tree will save a year of the earth. Amazing work generous @papa-pepper😉

I'm not sure about the math, but I do plan on planting a lot more trees!

It is so inspiring for me to know that you gave away plants among other things. I wish I could get those plants but that would be just wishful thinking on my part.

You can be very generous like giving away free plants that are gonna make food for people and yet when you give them away, you don't really have to loose anything.

This context thought us that generosity has its own way of finding us back. In this case, the trim off top survived the winter and start growing as papa said "a new life to start; a new tree to be had"Thanks @papa-pepper, you are a gem to the community!

Love is an action word, and the proof of it is in what you give. When you show care for people and do things that reflect you love for them, they become naturally drawn to you. Thank you for sharing

I did not realize that Mulberry trees were that easy to propagate. But I love gardening and growing plants as well and tried my hand at propagating many things usually very successfully. There is nothing more rewarding than growing plants from seeds or by propagation and then watching them flourish! Nice that you can also share what you have brought to life with others!
On another note, I left you a message a while ago about translating and article you wrote last month. I wanted to translate this article into German (I am German) and possibly into Spanish as well (live in Uruguay a Spanish speaking country) . This was the article in question: https://steemit.com/steemit/@papa-pepper/steemit-10-things-to-expect-if-you-are-new-here
Please let me know if it would ok and what the requirements are other than the obvious accreditation.

Go for it. Just cite the original and let me know when you have it completed so I can support. Thanks!

thanks will do!

Ah, @papa-pepper, sharing and giving away is just what is making you such a rich person. The lesson that I got from you today is that you should not ever give away more than you have. You have to provide for yourself first, but you have to share your bounty. It is like the Biblical tithe: share and you will be blessed.

Wow. I'm no farmer but that's super cool. It reminds me of this quote;

A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle

So never stop sharing and helping others because it makes your life more meaningful.

Xoxo

Trees are the lungs of the planet. Thanks to them, we breathe clean air, now you are participating in this @papa-pepper.

I almost misinterpreted your title, also it was really intriguing papa. One stone can kill two birds if applied strategically. Sharing to also gaining, giving while still retaining it. Isn't it beautiful?
@papa-pepper being a while you have been to steem.chat
Kindly check @mediahousent text over there Papa.

I love Mulberries..... I have to settle for Oranges and Lemons out here though!

Learn something new everyday! I had no idea that you could just trim the tops and plant them that way...probably because nothing but potato grows up here anyhow :). That said, you can cut potato into quarters and get even more when you plant them....sort of the same, just less tasty than mulberries.

a good job, what is it as a filler of leisure time?

I am glad to see the activity @ papa-pepper makes me want to help you ...

may the plant grow and bear fruit. I am very sad if that plant dies.

Thank you @papa-pepper for sharing in steemit

Most of my trees have started this way, from cuttings or trimmings. Now my neighbours and friends are benefitting from the fruits of cuttings. The bounties we can receive when we gift!

Plants are amazing, that's for sure! Appreciating and understanding plants -- that's a path to food abundance and gratitude, for sure. Happy spring!

Wow inasmuch as i didn't pay attention to agricultural stuff back then in school, i know what plant propagation is and you just explained it so easily in very few lines that were fun to read. Awesome

Greetings! A couple of years ago I was pruning my huge tomato plants. My girlfriend picked up one of the branches and stuck it in the loose ground like a spear. I chuckled. She chuckled later when it took root and stood up proud.

Funny how hard we work sometimes unnecessarily. We ate fruit from this vine.

P.S Your post reminded of this. Thanks

Nice work @papa-pepper ! I love giving propagated trees away too. It feels good to help others get started with their food forest and gardens. Here's some Mulberries I picked this morning for my breakfast smoothy.
