Pakistan Red Crescent (PRC) FATA branch organized a ten days long free medical camps in the remotes areas of the tribal region to facilitates the deserving and vulnerable communities of Mohmand agency.
The camp was organized by joint efforts and cooperation of Pakistan Red Crescent FATA as well as PRC Mohmand agency while the political administration provided security to the free medical staff.
Talking to local journalists PRC FATA Provincial Health Officer Dr. Tauseef Ullah informed that in the camp around 2400 patients including male 589, children 998, female 879 were examined and given free medicines.
He said that a team of highly qualified doctors and trained medical staff including male and lady doctors have conducted Red Crescent Medical Camps from October, 3 to October 12 from 10am to 4pm.
RFL, CBRE and hygiene awareness sessions were also organized. Two ambulances of Red Crescent and a number of volunteers took part in the camp. Free medicines were also provided to the patients.
He said many patients were suffering from skin, eye infections, dehydration and gastroenteritis. Due to starting of winter season, people also complained about eye problems.
Many patients also complained about tooth pain. The main cause of all these diseases and infections was malnutrition and poor hygiene. Doctors referred 80 patients to others health facilities.
On the occasion in the medical camp another Doctor Younis Khan asked the patients to adopt preventive measures to protect themselves from plethora of diseases.
A participant of medical camp and local resident of Kotagi far flung area of Prang Ghar tehsil in Mohmand Agency told that treatment of diseases was expensive and majority of people were unable to afford its cost.
Dr. Younis said, prevention was the better option as it cost nothing. Speaking at the concluding day of the medical camp, he said that those camps were meant to provide free treatment to people besides raising their awareness level about prevention of diseases.
Malik Haji Fazli Khaliq a local elder appreciated the Pakistan red Crescent FATA and political administration and security forces of the agency, locals, doctors and the paramedical staff for extending support and making the effort a success.
Pakistan Red Crescent FATA Secretary Saeed Kamal said that Red Crescent is the leading humanitarian organization which works to get better the suffering of the most vulnerable people in distress without discrimination of nationality, race, religious belief, class, or political opinion. The objective of the free camp was to provide free medical facility, i.e. consultation, treatment, medicine, diagnostic and referral to the people in the community. The activity was undertaken in the remote and backward areas of Mohmand agency, where health facilities are scarce. About 2466 people including men, women and children were provided health facility at their doorsteps. told that free medical camp was held in the most backward areas of Mohmand agency to facilitate the poor tribesmen on their doors steps. He said that PRC is trying to establish a welfare health unit in the area very soon, where doctors would also be appointed for free healthcare services to the tribesmen.
Local tribesmen showed gratitude over the free medical camp and demanded that the surgeons and medical specialists should be permanently appointed in the area hospital.
