Free Art Tuesday and Some Crafty Curation #3

What is #freearttuesday?

The free art movement is gaining traction all over the country. It’s become kind of a big deal in my town. Artists and makers of all kinds leave their creations on park benches, library shelves and window ledges of buildings down town with an attached note explaining to the finder that it is free art to be kept, gifted, rehidden or left right where it was found. In the Joplin area, the note might include a link to the Free Art 417 Facebook page so the finder can join the group and post their find.

I’ve also started leaving the address to my Steemit page and an invitation to join and participate in #freearttuesday.

I introduced #freearttuesday in this postI wrote a while back. If you’ve read the post then you know that the payoff for participating can be priceless!!

What Did I Do For #freearttuesday?

Adam's family came from out of state to stay for a while. Two of his nieces, ages 3 and 4, helped me paint some rocks. We hid them during a day trip to Fantastic Caverns.

By the time we got home the rocks had been posted on facebook by a family who had stopped by Fantastic Caverns during their vacation. They said they would be rehiding the rocks at Six Flags, St. Louis.

No #freearttuesday Paricipants This Week!

I'll be making a #freearttuesday post every Tuesday, or most of them at least. Each week I will feature participants who use the tag and rewarding them a little for the efforts. Be sure to post about your free art this week!

Need Some Inspiration?

@diyhometalk posted this cute Easter how-to.

I think these bunnies are adaptable to many materials, and could be made in singles for individual free art hides.

@hammondlynn wrote this how to for making snow globes. A wintery scene would just fine, but these globes could be adapted to any holiday or season.

I recently finished a three part howto on amigurumi crochet.

Once I got the pattern down, I could whip one of these up in about 25 minutes. I make up a bunch of them now and then to put out around town for free art.

If you've enjoyed the art in this post, check these artists out and let them know that Steemit supports our artists!

@powellx5, this is a very cool project. I look forward to seeing where these free art projects in up.

I have so many ideas going thorugh my mind about how to promote Steemit this way.

It’s something my girls and I take part in together. Tomorrow I’ll be getting a bunch of stuff ready to take to Third Thursday. It’s an artsy sort of street fair with craft booths and food trucks and street performers that we have here in Joplin, once a month. I’ve come up with a little something to promote with that I’ll show on next weeks free art post.

What a fun collection of art! I love painting on rocks and isn't it fun that they hide them now so we can share?

Yeah! I love the rock painting, because even those who don’t believe they can make art, and very small children can make them and participate in free art! And they’re fast to make, so there are lots of them out on trails and walking paths. Other types of art can be a little more time consuming, and not everyone thinks they can create, so there’s less of other types of art to find.

How awesome of an idea! I can play a guitar, but I cant craft worth a dime. I can build! My daughter might be interested though! Cool I'll read up on it with her tomorrow afternoon.

Hey, music and building are art! My husband is a finish carpenter, and I'm telling you what he does is art!

Check out the original #freearttuesday post and get the whole low-down on it. If your daughter participates, post it and tag it!

ya were going to read it together tonight as a story, but she loves to draw and do crafts!

I love #freeartTuesday! I havent had time to do anything in that category lately! We are putting siding on our house and it, (along with birthdays and archery tournaments), are sucking my time! Ill have to try, and see if @SnekLady will join me in making at least a couple small things to give away...
