Am so proud to be a Bahamian, as for today we celebrate our 44th birthday as an independent nation.
Thou we were discovered by the Late Christopher Columbus back in 1492, Our first prime minister the Late Hon. Sir. Lyden O Pindling and his Progression Liberal Party won control from Britain on July 10 th 1973, gaining independence, and ever since we celebrate today as a Bahamian Independence Day.
The name Bahamas comes from Spanish ( Baja Mar ) meaning shallow sea. Our archipelago spreads over 100,00 miles of the ocean being 700 islands and over 2,000 rocks and cays.
I invite you to explore all of islands for the experience would be breathtaking. Enjoy our colorful history, rich culture and some of our warm native dishes. You wouldn't regret it!! Happy Independence Bahamas 🇧🇸
