Hi there Steem People!
I'm an anarcho-capitalist kinda guy. I have a PhD and teach at a university, which actually speaks most clearly to the level of my mind control. It took me a good decade (and counting!) to unlearn everything that I had got wrong. My awakening and re-education began with James Corbett
Max Keiser
Bill Still
G. Edward Griffin
Even though I have a post-graduate education in literature, I had never read some of the giants of freedom, like Lysander Spooner
and Frederic Bastiat
and didn't know its enemies either, people like Jeremy Bantham
and Francis Galton
To be honest, I wasn't completely clear that freedom was the great value and ultimate prize of life, nor did I understand that freedom begins with personal property and natural law and maintains itself through decentralization. When I realized these things, I was ready to dive into the world of cryptocurrencies!
I first bought bitcoin in 2011 after watching Max Keiser gloat about it a few times. Instead of keeping my bitcoin, I went (too) deep--and then underwater--into the NXT project, but recently I came out almost whole thanks to supernet (and komodo). Now that I'm "back to zero," I've invested a bitcoin in Steem and want to see what it's like to post here.
I love the idea of steemit as a decentralized, uncensured social media platform and therefore a plausible alternative to the ghettos of the internet: facebook, twitter, youtube. But I wonder about a couple of things.
- I'm afraid that the lust for steem dollars will tend to subvert the curation process and push mediocre content to the top.
- I wonder if the un-edit-ability of posts to the blockchain will prove too clunky in the end and harm steemit's chances of succeeding.
- It seems to me that we need a censor-free version of youtube, and I wish steemit could be it, but I think videos posted to steemit must be hosted elsewhere?
It seems to me that we need not just an alternative to facebook but to the entire spynet itself. That's why I'm interested in supernet, mass-mega-upload, maidsafe and ultimately steemit.
Let me know your thoughts about these things. I'd be grateful. And let's pioneer a free internet together!!!

Just to clarify, you can re-edit your posts prior to their payout. On other words only the first seven days. After that, it stays in the blockchain as it is.
