Introducing My Freedom of Speech

in freedom •  7 years ago  (edited)

As my first post introduction, I’d like to say that I want to uphold the freedom of speech that this platform has to offer. I come to this platform with idea in mind that my freedom of speech will be protected and so is my anonymity.

I just came to know that this platform is offering a place for the unheard to be heard. Here, I am going to share about creative writing, politics, cryptocurrency, religion and other thought provoking articles, in hope I can inform people about what’s truly going on.

I am sick of seeing that our voices are suppressed and has to be filtered. Why are we afraid of truth? Why are we even afraid of the reality itself?

Prejudice, stereotyping and racism are everywhere. We are doing those unconsciously. Why are we bothered to feel shame?

Is it disrespectful? Is it hurtful? Is it immoral ?

Truth is, we hurt people in so many different ways we can’t even imagine. Those are the feeling , that are subjective. I don’t rely on subjectivity deciding whether it’s hurtful or not.

If someone goes straight to me, calling ‘ hey ugly’ I wouldn’t feel hurt. For them, I am ugly but it might be different with others.

Here’s let me cite an excerpt from steemit bluepaper

Steem is a decentralized network that is operated by witnesses in jurisdictions around the world. All user actions are publicly recorded on the blockchain, and can be publicly verified. This means that there is no single entity that can censor content that is valued by STEEM holder.

Freedom of speech is the foundation of all other liberties and any infringement upon freedom of speech undermines the only peaceful means of reaching consensus: discussion. Without free discussion voters cannot be fully informed, and uninformed voters are a greater threat to society than losing the right to vote. Censorship is a means of stealing votes through limiting public discourse. Steem is committed to enabling free speech and building a free society.

I am trying to be smart user that knows the do’s and don’t before I soaked myself in. I don’t have a Fakebook nor any social media that I am actively involved in. The social media exists are full of censorship and I am not into it.

Regardless, if you’re also new like me, have you ever considered reading terms of service?

I believe that many of us skipped that but here’s a little excerpt of what it says :

17.1. When accessing or using the Services, you agree that you will not commit any unlawful act, and that you are solely responsible for your conduct while using our Services. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, you agree that you will not:
17.1.1. Use our Services in any manner that could interfere with, disrupt, negatively affect or inhibit other users from fully enjoying our Services, or that could damage, disable, overburden or impair the functioning of our Services in any manner;
17.1.2. Use our Services to pay for, support or otherwise engage in any illegal activities, including, but not limited to illegal gambling, fraud, money- laundering, or terrorist activities.

Looking above, I hope to see around that people uphold those rules. If not, they might haven't read that part and is probably forgiven.

Namaste,

M
