This was an awesome read!

We all wish we had more time to Steem so this post resonate with all of us.

Thanks brother! I've a friend who just came back from New Zealand yesterday and he's a handyman super into sustainability-related stuff and all that. When I told him about this - his eyes opened up twice larger than usual lol! I think we're gonna see some open designs for home improvements :) so yes, I think people would love more time with Steemit to express/show whatever they've been doing..

Congratulations Brother!
This is a HUGE deal and a true life changer!
I am so excited for you as I have not had a job/boss in 15 years!
It truly is priceless and I would never go back. I would live homeless on the streets or in the woods with nothing but a knife (both of which I have done) before slaving away!
I wish you the best and I will follow and support you here on Steemit.
This platform sure does make it a lot easier to be independent and "free"
Bless~*~

Thanks for the support man :)
I've been meaning to drop you a message asking about how you started building what you're doing now - garden of eden am i right? It would be a fun chat - are you on steemit.chat?

Yes indeed!
It is a truly extraordinary thing and I am trying to make a breakthrough here on Steemit to get inspiring example out there as living in sustainable community is a fantastic life and a solution to most of the problems we face in life!
I am on chat with same name. I am super grateful you are inspired and interested.
Be in touch~*~

I really hope this works out nicely for you Kevin. Your presence here is certainly appreciated.

Thanks @anotherjoe. I've been following parts of your Vision of Regeneration for Haiti series and it would be great to see a compilation of necessary initiatives and a call to action for the community (especially when the platform grows larger!)

Thanks for your support, Kevin. I appreciate it. I have two more in the series, ending Friday. It's been a rewarding experience to see some folks get interested. Today's articled bombed, but you win some lose some.
I'm hoping to make enough off the series to go to Haiti about a month from now. The last two would really have to knock it out of the park to do so. But I'll send whatever the last one makes if I can't go myself. It's not an unreasonable amount for Steemit, but I just don't have the following to pull it off without something pretty amazing happening.

It's alright brother. Steemit is still a baby, it's a good time to grow your following atm. Who knows what'll happen in 3, 6, 9, 12 months down the road :) Keep doing what you care about. It shines in your posts - i see it :)

Thanks man. Appreciate it.
Yeah, I've picked up a decent following in a short time. My writing is sort of eclectic, and I don't know if I want to narrow it or just keep posting different things. We'll see how it goes.
Thanks again!

again, congratulations and all the best to you!
If you want to start dancing again, I'll be the coach hahaha. no jk but seriously, congrats on quitting your job, now you'll have much more time for yourself and to work on the things you enjoy!

I was stuck on the road for 4 hours yesterday with so many cars on the road. But I didn't mind. I'm over it :D Thanks brother, I'll brush up my dance so we'll have dance off next time lol

Can you get me out? :)

What is it that you seek for? :)

Well I'd like to make enough to not have to worry about making the rent each month for my family and I. At the moment my significant other is the only one working and we have 2 kids to take care of. We can't afford day care at the moment so I am staying at home with the little one. It would be great to make a little extra income so we wouldn't be so stressed about bills each month... ya know? :)

@kevinwong, what are your thoughts regarding exponential tech growth, possible technological unemployment, and potential universal basic income?

The reason I ask is that I've been interested in building an A.I. that can help people reach financial freedom faster and free their time so they can live less stressed, living in their purpose each day, and sharing their gifts with the world to make it a better place for everyone. How many people are working for income, trading time for money, feeling stressed to pay the bills?

If linear institutions become overwhelmed due to exponential disruption, and presumably governments are too reactionary, what might the consequences be if none steps up to the plate fast enough to help?

Can private enterprise or communities such as the Steemit community and others like it help to resolve this potential crisis before it may unfold?

Curious to hear anyone's thoughts on some of this stuff.
What can we as a community do to help people like @jrcornel faster?

@jrcornel, thanks for sharing. Friends stick together.

I believe that we can do anything we set our mind to.

I just read @jrcornel comment and I'd like to continue the discussion to see what all of us can do together to help one another faster by combining our unique talents.

I thought of replying this, but turn out to be worthy of a post alone.. thanks man! Will ping you when I get this article out :)

The best thing about Steemit is that you can try, experiment bringing value to the table and let the "free market" decide. And such experiments take place at a super fast pace, just type up a post.. learn from it then improve on it. Gave you a follow.. and come onto Steemit.chat! :)

You got it. Thanks for your input! It is much appreciated :)

Congrats man! Looking forward to seeing what else you come up with and growing alongside ya.

Dittos on learning to develop for Ethereum!

@blakemiles84, what's up?
I'm interested in Ethereum as well.
Would love to see where y'all go from here with Steemit, Ethereum, and beyond.

I'm seeing it like this ... bitcoin is the main drive chain that allows all other cryptocurrencies to store value.... Ethereum is the smart contract platform with flexibility and business/fintech applications... Steem has the potential to become an ecosystem of content, sidechains, marketplaces, and whatever else creative minds can come up with.

I see Bitcoin and Ethereum as interacting directly for sure. Steemit still has a lot of growing to do, but I'm obviously confident enough in the concept to invest time and money into it.

Likewise man :)
Been 2-3 months for us but it already feels like a long time. This platform is really fast-moving (at least when you're on it for a few hours each day!)

It sounds like a very long list of things you plan to do, I hope you will make it. I like urban farming idea a lot.

Growing your own food is a major money savor and health upgraded!
Get into it!
I founded the most sustainable community in the country and am on Steemit! @gardenofeden

It sounds like something I would read about.
Followed, but I don't understand is it about the food or organic farming?

Well if you READ every article and you check the web site you will BEGIN to get an idea.
Though in truth it is a WHOLE New Paradigm covering all the essentials of life.
If you want to see a life of true sustainability, true freedom and honest self expression then look no further!
Bless~*~

Yes thank you very much for that.
i know everyone works hard, I know people spend a lot of time on their Steemit posts and other facets of life, but not only do I work 7 days a week but it also results in feeding 40,000 free meals a year. At age 33 I have already fed more free meals most people would in 10 lifetimes.
Would be great to get the kind of support some people get on here for fighting with each other on public posts...

Well as u stated it is wide spread topics which logically concludes we cover many themes =)>

Thanks.
The articles' topics on @gardenofeden are quite wide spread and by titles it is not clear if they cover one or many themes.

It looks like those new year resolution lists that usually gets tossed out the window midway lol, I probably wouldn't be able to consistently do some of those but I'll try :) Thanks, it's still a difficult idea to pull off without proper localization (since plants generally need different climates and soil)

One thing done well is better than hundred done poorly.
Some things are definitely difficult and I don't doubt they will require more effort.

Well said brother. I have plenty of interests.. but I think what I love most is actually writing (I've been writing for as long as I can remember, but never used it for money, and suddenly there's an avenue to present ideas and stories on Steemit.. working pretty well for me atm)

Wow that is a really brave move. It shows how much faith you have in Steemit. Best of luck:)

Relatively easy move for me as I do not have much commitments at the moment :) Thanks man! All the best to all of us :)

Exactly it's the best time to try it. All the best:)

The time is NOW!

Nothing beats the present moment!

No truer words have ever been spoken~*~

I'm glad you're in luck ! Maybe once and I'm lucky ...

Certainly lucky that I got welcomed by the smaller group when I joined earlier. If it wasn't for acceptance of diversity, I wouldn't have gotten the support. So I will continue this process with Project Curie or any other projects promoting content diversity on Steemit :)

I wish you all the best. Enjoy every moment of your new life journey.

Congratulations @kevinwong!
I'm interested to hear more about your Ethereum aspirations?

Thanks @fast2future :)
It's still pretty difficult to learn developing for Ethereum as the tools are still buggy and all. Love it for the epic vision for distributed computing. However I may start putting more time learning to develop for Steem as time goes on as it seems more immediately relevant being a social platform!

I'm looking forward to brainstorming with you. I'm interested in helping to create a world of abundance 4 everyone. (Whatever that means, I'm excited to help create it :)

@kevinwong, I'm interested to hear more about your vision for Steem. Just remember, "anything you think you can do or dream you can, you can..."

You've come to the right place :) I think Steemit is amazing.. it's bursting with ideas and dreamers.. and it makes you do stuff so you can write more about it lol..

Excited for you! With more time to dedicate to your passions, regardless of what money you make, you will be far happier.

You already make great content, so I can only imagine what more time and energy dedicated to steemit will bring.

I'd clink glasses with you and tell you here's to bigger and better things :)

Thanks a lot brother - I'm happy to have made that leap. No ragrets :)

I kind of have made that leap without having anything to quit. So not quite as impressive as leaving a job, but glad to be in with creative minds like yours and the others in the curie room and steemit as a whole :)

Exactly!

I bet it feels nice to say goodbye to the office! Much excitement with maybe a tingle of apprehension which is perfect for motivation. Nice To Do list; I think those things will keep you busy and satisfied. Wishing you all the best!

Well I had a bit of a sentimental moment yesterday lol, but I seriously went through mental torture for the past few years going through crazy traffic everyday and doing something that I couldn't relate much to (although it paid well). Thanks for the well wishes, the same goes to you!

It's an ocean out there. All new and enjoy it.

Awesome! Congratulations and best of luck with the transition! Hope to join you soon!

Thanks @ltm! Drop by Steemit.chat anytime, we have plenty of friendlies here :)

booked!

Hi Kevin Wong,

Congratulations on the freedom. Where are you located? I want to know more about your projects, it seems like we have common interests, as I also like Steem and want to do Ethereum programming.

Much fun and success to you.

Good luck Kevin - you can do it man )

Congrats! You write well and I enjoy reading and am following your work! Best of luck.

Congrats! I joined two weeks ago, and I'm surprised at the pace Steemit is developing , I hope to achieve the success you have got . Cheers.

Cheers buddy! Come over on Steemit.chat anytime..

Congratulations!

It was interesting to read. Well the problem is described. The material is presented correctly. Post deserves attention. I want to re-read to familiarize yourself with the individual parts of the post. It sets out clearly and intelligibly. The problem outlined in the post appears clearly to our consciousness. Thank you for having clearly shown that this is the case. We had to get acquainted with it and know more about

wow, I wish you the best Kevin!! I will keep reading you as usual and getting good advices!!

Best advice ever!!

Congratulations!

Thanks @ericvancewalton! Keep on Steeming ;)

I still remember when we were having this chat on steemit slack 3 months ago during the hack incident.
Time flies! Good luck and all the best with whateva you are doing :-)

Seems like a lifetime ago for me.. thanks a lot @coinbitgold :)

good luck!

Thanks @ash!

@kevinwong congrats on the change man! However, I wouldn't be living up to my moniker @scaredycatguide without saying I hope you are able to check of many of the items of the "don't quit your job yet" check list.

I'm not gonna spam your comments with my post on it. Just want you to be prepared and hope to see you and others succeed in this life transition. Best of luck man! :-)

Steemit is the right mix in getting me out of my scaredeycatness for years not moving out of the corporate life.. which paid me decent but at the cost of time doing something unrelatable. And yes im well prepared! reads your guide lol

Nice! Good for you man.....the pursuit of happiness.

This is great Kevin, let's hope the platform stabilizes and continues to grow for those of us who see the opportunity here. It's given me the time I needed to focus on my fiction, and as I thought they would, readers love it! Good luck!

Thanks brother, and glad that you're finding a following. Steemits still a baby.. and the blogging aspect is just a small part. All the best to you too :)

I agree, I find it interesting that without the controls of "traditional social media" (if such a thing even exists) that this is the most uplifting and helpful group of users on any platform I am aware of.

Congratulations. I am curious, what did you used to do? I looked through your blogs quickly, I could not find it...

Also, I am an Ethereum developer, with seasoned (relatively) well known crowdfund experience. Maybe we join forces to take over the world.

I am particularly interested (at the moment) in the possibilities arising with IoT + Ethereum (particularly, coupled with the Raiden network).

Followed to stay in touch, upvoted for the inspiring article. Good luck!

Oh I never mentioned it - I was a sales engineer selling indoor transportation systems. Was stuck there for years not knowing what to do and utterly not being able to relate to the role and industry altogether. While at the same time doing and exploring all sorts of interests. Nice! Maybe you can help me out with eth.. im not a very good dev btw, but would like to be one :). Yes we shall keep in touch, im too passionate about eth and steem lol.. (sorry for the crappy writing, on mobile now..)

I´m glad for you and wish you all the best for the new adventures to come. Enjoy the magic that dwells in these kind of new beginnings.

Thanks @shaka , I really appreciate it! Beautiful last sentence you've got there by the way :)

Awesome and Congratulations. Follow your dreams wherever they may lead. I'm an urban food grower too. I use aquaponics. Absolutely love it, so do my kids.

Thank you!

And nice! You should totally write up a post about your urban growing efforts, and I think it's great that it appeals to kids, learning about food growing too :)

Great idea! I hadn't thought about writing about aquaponics. You're right so I will. Please give us updates on how you are going.

Another position opens up to the unemployed who never make $1000 posts on Steemit. Win-Win

Good for you! I'm really happy you were able to quit your job and pursue what interests you instead!

I'm happy knowing that some people are able to leave their job to leave on Steemit. That's my biggest goal :)

Thank you for your passion and your continuos work in this platform :)
