I read this and surely enough, my 9 year old wanted to do something 'dangerous' (cut a melon with a sharp knife). My usual self would say: "Why don't you let me do it?" But I had just read your post here and remembered Marley's adventure with the drill and let her do it instead. She's fine, we're all fine, no body got hurt haha. And the melon came out
cut perfectly. So thanks for this, it made me a little bit more mindful of what kids are able to do if we let them.

Well, my 16 and 9 year old are quite good cooks and they all love helping with cooking and baking.
The one thing I'm waiting for is that they get as enthusiastic about washing dishes as they are about cooking lol.
