What does it mean to be free, anyway? It takes courage, determination and ingenuity to really be free.
Freedom, like many things, is not an objective reality but a subjective perception. It is individual to each and every one of us. As much as we try and to tell ourselves that we know what true freedom means, most of us mere mortals will only ever see short glimpses of it.
It is, in any care, a human instinct to crave freedom. We are born wanting to feel connected, at peace and unrestrained, but is such a thing realistically ever be achieved? Perhaps you are lucky enough to live in a country where you are free to express your opinions, your sexuality and make your life how you want to; but are you really free if you have to work a job that you hate? Are you free if you are restrained by mental or physical illness? Are you free if you don't have the financial resources to do the things your heart desires? Are you free if you are stuck in an unhappy relationship? Are you free if you are constantly worrying about what everyone else might be thinking about you?
Perhaps complete freedom isn't something to be expected all the time. It might be something to be enjoyed in fleeting moments and cherished when they come. It may be foolish to expect to feel free all the time, life isn't perfect after all; but it is the ones who are courageous enough to pursue freedom without a care about what others might think, who are truly successful in life.
The reality is that it is our belief systems that keep us restrained, and it is not easy to change them. You have to be courageous enough to question those beliefs, not take anything for granted and understand that even when life gets tough you cannot ever give up on your pursuit for freedom. It is not just for you, but for everyone. When we seek freedom on an individual basis we are at the same time pushing society as a whole towards more freedom.
We live in a world where it is normal to work jobs we hate our entire lives, to get into unhappy relationships for decades, and to settle for mediocracy in every aspect of our lives; and yet we wonder why so many of us get depressed.
The opportunity we have is always to work together towards a more free world, like the one us crypto-currency enthusiast are creating- where institutionalized mediocracy is no longer the norm, and where the human race finds the courage to be to be free from banks, oppressive politics, religions and dogmatic belief systems that don't serve us.
It is time to be the change you want to see in the world. We're not alive to simply keep the status quo, we are alive to live our lives to it's greatest potential and experience every moment with passion and presence. We aren't meant to be boxed up into office jobs and settle for breadcrumbs. We are here to explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever in peace!
