Attention shoppers! Loblaws and George Weston Ltd. revealed Tuesday that they participated in an industry wide bread price fixing arrangement from 2001 to 2015.

The Canadian mega corporation admitted this to the Competition Bureau before they concluded their investigation in order to recieve a lighter sentance.

The company owns many different brands under Loblaws; Weston Bread, Proviga, No Frills, Extra Foods, No Name, Shoppers Drug Mart and ofcourse the Superstore all fall under their umbrella.

As part of their punitive measures the company will be offering anyone who even claims they bought bread at one of their stores a $25 gift card. The company said they hope enough people will take advantage of this so that they can repay their debt and help rebuild consumer confidence. Weston Ltd. said they expect 3-6 million people to visit their website and fill out a form to recieve the cards, I actually hope they get 30 million Canadians all on board because they deserve to be hit hard for their bad business practices, plus who couldn't use $25 off of an upcoming grocery order?

Customers can visit LoblawCard.ca and enter their email address to be notified once registration opens around Jan. 8, 2018.

All you have to do is state you bought a bread product once within those 14 years they were gouging us for extra funds to get a card.

I usually shop at Sobeys but you can bet I'll get a $25 Superstore card and pick up some Presidents Choice coffee or something to treat myself on Galen Weston, that bastard 😝

woah if 30 million canadians would sign up for a free card, that means 30million x $25 whew! they'll be spending tons of money hahaha serves them right?

Well it'd be a fraction of that, they pay maybe 30% on the items they sell and the rest of it is mark ups. Coupled with the fact they're so huge they manufacture alot of the products they sell it, so that makes it a bit easier for them. They're a mega corporation which is why it's sad they engaged in price fixing to make a couple dimes of a loaf of bread. Thanks for checking out my post 😎

it’s sleazy smart business as usual

I heard this on the cbc news in my pickup earlier. Thanks for all of the details big guy🍞

Yeah man spread the word, hit these rotten buggers hard 👊😎

My wife already applied for her $25

I wonder if it's one per household or email? We haven't applied yet but we will thanks for reading my friend 👊😎

I will let you know. I asked her the same question. I am going to apply as well.

Lol I was totally thinking the same thing, like can I apply a few times... You know they sell wine at the Superstore now :)

wow Very interesting Really beautiful work, ThankS you for sharing

Wow!! Thanks for the tip!
I am totally reposting to spread the news!
People deserve a break even if it is only a $25 break.

They'll make up for it, don't worry. Just like corporate taxes and other expenses are passed onto consumers so will this.
