Free Speech Friday: I Do Not Consent

To data mining. I should be able to engage in commerce without providing details about myself and my life. I do not consent and reserve the right to provide misinformation. My email to give out to these miners is [email protected] (No NSA 33-get it?), my birthday is...... however old I feel that day, my zip code is in another state, and my phone number is 867-5309 (remember?), etc. I should not have to answer questions to make a simple purchase or “sign up” just to view a website. I feel like I am a walking statistic and demographic analog. Leave me alone. I’m paranoid ya know! This constant asking me crap everywhere I go is not good for my mental health. I do not consent!!

I agree there. A couple of years ago maybe 2005. I was at best buy or office supply. I don't know what store it was. I went to buy a computer part. They offered a great discount card. I said sure. They gave me a form that asked for my social security number. I gave her that form back and told her, "get that out of my face, they don't need my social.)

Exactly, I never sign up for store credit cards or "Loyalty Cards". My privacy is more important to me than the tiny bit I would save. It's a trap. Seriously, I would rather pay full price than give my info.

I think the same way. Now, if they want to offer me market research and pay me for it. I might be open to it. But they want to mine data as you put it. Bunch of data pirates.

Howdy partner! I hope all the misinformation people give really causes them an issue one day.

It's a real shame that we have utilised such a tool / tech as the Internet for insidious profiteering, right down to our own freakin data..
The morons out there will continue to be corporate *CONSUMER UNITS' - As our illustrious Governments say ' The people must be managed'!
