There is something worse than death: not serving anybody.
When I observe nature, everything - every root, every plant, every insect - is needed by something else. Nothing seems unnecessary.
Man gets sick when he is not serving anybody or anything else.
Whom am I serving? is a good question to ask ourselves.
Today I asked this question to myself and I answered: my family, by working, my community/village where I live, by organizing activities for children on Saturday afternoon, my readers, whenever they find value in what I write.
I also serve God. There is a promise in the Bible, that says
Take no bag for the road, or second tunic, or sandals, or staff; for the worker is worthy of his provisions (Matthew 10:10)
It's been a year since I live by this promise, and I never fell short of anything. Serve and de-serve. Those who serve, deserve.
I met people serving Nature.
I met people serving Democracy.
I met people serving Science.
I met people serving Art.
I met people serving Universal Love.
I met people serving Work.
I met people serving their Stability.
I met people serving Others.
Many years ago I wrote on my diary: "We need to freely choose our slaveries".
I still think there is some relevant meaning in that phrase. Today I'll probably rephrase it as "We need to freely choose whom to serve".
Indeed you're gonna have to serve somebody
Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have to serve somebody
