Happy Halloween everyone! This is my 77th 5 minute freewrite. (Disclaimer: these usually take me significantly longer than 5 minutes to write and edit 😉). Today's prompt was "tiny". The resulting poem is a little bit spooky, as befitting an All Hallows Eve freewrite

The Dollhouse
There's a room in the house
Where the children sleep
And in that room
A smaller house
And in that house
A tiny broom
A tiny cat
A tiny mouse
Tiny plates
Forks, knives
Tiny chairs,
Tables, couch
Tiny beds
Tiny clothes
Tiny dolls
That move about
Among their tiny
Little things
All day long
Back and forth
Now the parlour
Now the lawn
Now the kitchen
Now the hearth
'Til nighttime comes
And down they lie
To dream their tiny
Little dreams
Or nightmares maybe
Who can tell?
Who can hear
A doll's screams?
Ever smiling
Ever still
All day long
They're moved and posed
To be haunted
Soundlessly
At night by tiny
Little ghosts
